34-Year-Old Woman With Autism

I have an autistic daughter age 34. I have taken care of her for her entire life. I know it takes a lot of repetition to teach them. And I am patient and loving! But a few years ago she started a bad habit and I am not even sure why.

She had a trauma happen to her at a sheltered work shop for the disabled. One of the other male clients followed her into the restroom and attempted to rape her. But this habit started before that happened.

She will take big handfuls of spit and threw it all over her room. I try to have her clean up what she can of it because when it dries it's like glue. I was hoping someone might have a suggestion as to why she is doing this. How can I help her to stop? Thank you so much!
