A Picture In Time

by Sally Greenwell
(Cardiff, Wales, UK )

When I saw your face, I couldn't recognise

Your smile or your frown
The expression in your eyes
But I remember the words you said two years ago,
I remember the pattern of tears when you cry

So I take just another picture in time,
in my mind, that gets lost in the rhyme,
and the reason of words.
If you show me a sign I will understand
But please don't speak in your jumble of syllables

When I spin around, it helps me not to feel
When I hit the ground
I know that I am real
But the tick of the clock and the daily routine
Helps me to know that I'll see you again

So I take just another picture in time,
in my mind, that gets lost in the rhyme,
and the reason of words.
If you show me a sign I will understand
But please don't speak in your jumble of syllables

So please don't feel sad,
my world looks different upside down,
Please dont feel bad,
the colours, they fascinate me.
I'm happier now than I'll ever be
And I will show you by taking your hand

So I take just another picture in time,
in my mind, that gets lost in the rhyme,
and the reason of words.
If you show me a sign I will understand
But please don't speak in your jumble of syllables
