A Pill For Autism

by Kimberly Rama Miranda
(Parma, Oh)

I wish I could call your name once with an immediate response. Just for a day.

I wish you could say, "I love you Mommy" without any prompting. Just for a day.

I wish I could see you playing with other children instead of your own little world. Just for a day.

I wish you could look at me straight in my eyes without the look of emptiness. Just for a day.

I wish we could go places without any worries, without any stares. Just for a day.

I wish I knew what you were thinking when I see you sitting there, alone. Just for a day.

I wish I could give you a pill and this thing called Autism would go away. Just for a day.
