The Children’s Annex offers Consultations and Diagnostic
Evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorders

For over 30 years, The Children’s Annex, a New York State approved, not-for-profit program, has specialized in Autism Spectrum Disorders. In addition to our day schools in Kingston and Ellenville serving children throughout the Hudson Valley, The Annex also offers a Center for Diagnostic and Consultation Services. Through the Center, we can provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for Autism Spectrum Disorders for children, adolescents and adults. The evaluative measures used are considered the “gold standard” of diagnostic instruments in the field.

The Center for Consultation and Diagnostic Services also provides consultations to schools or agencies on a regularly scheduled or as needed basis. Consultations may be child specific or geared to overall program improvement. In addition, workshops and trainings focusing on best educational practices may be customized to meet identified needs. In October 2007, we will also be offering a workshop series at our new Autism Support Center in Kingston, New York. More information on the dates, times and topics will be available shortly.

Afterschool and weekend social skill groups and counseling services are also available for children and adolescents with High Functioning Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome.

Beginning in September we are pleased to be offering Relationship Development Intervention, RDI © for parents of children with ASDs. RDI is a program that takes the most current research on Autism Spectrum Disorders and translates it into a clinical method that focuses on giving parents support and strategies to remediate the core deficits of Autism. A certified RDI consultant prepares parents to act as guides by creating daily opportunities for their child to respond in a more flexible, thoughtful way to challenging and unpredictable settings and problems.

For more information on RDI or any other services of The Children’s Annex Center for Diagnostic and Consultation Services visit www.childrensannex.org or call (845) 336-2616 extension 116.
