How To Help A Younger Sibling Of Autism

by Dana

My son is seven-years-old with Autism. He is aggressive and at times violent. He takes a lot of his frustration out on his younger sister. She will be three soon.

I feel awful, the aggravation she must be going through. I think she knows there's something different about her brother. It seems sometimes she tries to stay on his good side so he doesn't get frustrated with her.

But then he will start punching her or screaming at her. I try to show him how to talk when he's upset but it seems like I can never make it fast enough.

I know they love each other. I just feel there's more I should be doing. I just dont know what. Wondering if anyone has tried something that has worked, Thanks!
