Live Your Life Like You Mean It

by Danson Mandela Wambua
(Hackettstown, NJ)

I cry because I am alone
in this world of autism and I like it.
I am writing my book right now.

Life is talking, Mom.
Give my writing more time to mature
In my foolish heart.

Mom, I am not saying my plans
Because I placed them in God’s hands right now.
Will you love me forever?
Will you feel my goals too?

On your honor swear you will master my plans.
Living in my head is much easier
than living in the world.

Right now I am laughing inside
because I’m not sure I can make sense to you.
Walk with me on the inside of my mind.

Up late making my plans.
I am going to make my roar loud
in the world for those who cannot.

I am living almost in my world and yours too.
You make right my wrongs.
Until I am able, give me your voice
Roar for me.
Live your life like you mean it.
