Autism Poem: My Angel

My Angel is a moving autism poem written by a mother describing her relationship with her teen daughter on the autism spectrum.

My Angel

There is something precious and hard to find
a mother-daughter bond like hers and mine.
It's not like a normal relationship,
sometimes I feel we are joined at the hip.
I am her eyes, ears, and voice.
This "disorder" was not our choice.
It's called "autism" so they say
we just try to take it day by day.
Not one second have I stopped looking for the key
that "unlocks" this angel God gave to me.
